Ray Dalio on TM “Creates an Openness and Fredom..”

Ray Dalio

It creates an openness, a freedom, in which – I  don’t  Ray Dalioknow whether we would say “an intuition” – that creativity just kind of comes through and it creates an equanimity. In other words, you could step back and you can put things in perspective. It doesn’t lessen your emotions. The emotions are the same, but you can step back and say, “I’m not going to be controlled by that emotion,” or “Let me put things…” and I think it then helps to see things at a higher level.”

“I had never directed anything before, but I really wanted to. So I got on the phone with [AOL] and pitched them a couple different ideas, and they realised how passionate I was about Transcendental Meditation. I was like, “Oh, OK, cool!” What I was able to do with my director of photography, David Wolf, was so cool and so beautiful.“

In a recent interview with Glamour, Greer said:Judy Greer: Transcendental Meditation ’creates so much more time for you’

“I had been wanting to try and learn how to meditate, and I did research on the different types of meditation. TM seemed the easiest, and I liked that it wasn’t religious in any way. So, I did a little research of how to do it, and in the middle of it, I’m traveling for work, and I get to this location, and I meet this girl, and she says, ‘Oh, I had the best day off, I meditated,’ and I was like, ‘Wait, what do you do to meditate?’ She said, ‘I do Transcendental Meditation’. It was one of those things that I had already been hearing a lot about.

Obviously, my tip first is to incorporate meditation into your schedule. It sounds like a lot—‘Twenty minutes twice a day, how can I ever do that?!’—but creating that time to meditate ends up creating so much more time for you. My second tip is to get more sleep. Everything is so much more overwhelming when you’re so tired.“

Sheryl Crow on Transcendental Meditation:

„One of the things – and this comes from someone who was highly self-critical and a type-A personality – that has changed my life is meditating. The simple act of making my brain shut off for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night may not seem like much, but what ends up happening, besides creating space in your day, is your awake posture begins to replicate your meditative posture.“

Moby – “It helps me go to a centred place.”

Moby and Transcendental Meditation

“I thought that Transcendental Meditation involved Moby
ritual animal sacrifice and moving to some country and renouncing wealth and materialism. /—/ One of the things that impressed me so much about TM when I finally learned it was it’s simplicity. It’s a simple practice that calms the mind… and the thing that won me over about TM, apart from having my hero David Lynch as its vocal practitioner, was its effectiveness. Nothing else helped me quiet my mind and go to a calm, centred place. The thing that makes it effective is you don’t have to do all that much, and, as a profoundly lazy person, I appreciate that.”

“I’d say a little over a year ago I started doing TM and that’s really changed everything. Starting your day off with that and ending with that is pretty powerful. Twenty minutes, you just notice the difference. When I get lazy and don’t get it in, I can feel a difference. I do it first thing when I wake up.”

It was like it sort of restored my body on such a deep level. There was like a week’s worth of sleep. From that moment forward it was like I knew day and way. My whole nervous system reacted differently. I feel much less panicked and anxious and more calm about things. But I also feel deeply centered and rested.”

It’s the only time my mind gets absolute rest. When I am asleep, my subconscious mind is switched on and, when I am awake, I am alert.”

Clint Eastwood on meditation:

„I’m a great supporter ofTranscendental Meditation. I’ve been using it for almost 40 years now – and I think it’s a great tool for anyone to have, to be able to utilize as a tool for stress. Stress, of course, comes with almost every business. /—/ I think there are enough studies out there that show that TM is something that could benefit anybody. It’s a great system to use. Otherwise, why would I’ve been doing it for all these years, for almost half of my life?“
